Ingredients

1 kg of potatoes

1 cup mozzarella

¾ cup cheddar

1 cup of cream

1.5 cups of milk

2 tablespoon of melted butter

2 tablespoons of flour

1 teaspoon of onion powder

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

Parsley or dill to garnish


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peel and thinly slice the potatoes, then set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then whisk in the flour until smooth.
  • Slowly add the cream and milk, whisking until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, then pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the mixture.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with parsley or dill before serving.

Notes

For an extra kick, add cooked bacon or ham between the layers.
