Description

1 loaf of brioche or challah bread (1214 slices)

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

pinch of salt


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Cut the brioche or challah bread into thick slices and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are adequately soaked. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Once ready to bake, remove the cover and bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  • Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of the baked French toast and use a kitchen torch to caramelize it until golden brown, or place under the broiler for a few minutes.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh fruit or syrup.
