Amish Apple Fritter Bread is a delightful combination of tender bread and sweet apple fritters, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup milk
2 apples (peeled
cored
and chopped into small pieces)
1 tablespoon brown sugar (for sprinkling)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (for sprinkling)
½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the bread is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the bread is done, allow it to cool for a few minutes before drizzling with the glaze.
- Slice and serve warm. Enjoy!
Notes
For added flavor, you can mix in some chopped nuts or raisins. This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
